Acupuncture is one of the oldest, most commonly used forms of medicine in the world. Originating in China more than 2,500 years ago, acupuncture is currently one of the most thoroughly researched, practiced, and respected forms of complementary medicine available anywhere.

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, your overall health is determined by the quality of the Qi (energy) flow through the natural pathways of your body (meridians). Acupuncture uses a variety of techniques, including placing very thin sterile needles into specific points on the body, to stimulate and improve your Qi flow. The many benefits of acupuncture include:

  • Pain reduction

  • Stress and tension relief

  • Increased energy levels

  • Stronger digestion

  • Relief from bad habits and addictions

  • Greater sense of overall health and well-being

Herbal Medicine

Herbal Medicine

Chinese herbal medicine is a 2,000 year old tradition using naturally occurring substances to enhance one's health and vitality. As opposed to Western medicine, the foundation of this approach is to support the body's natural self-healing mechanisms and abilities.

Since each patient has different needs, I carefully select and combine a variety of herbs or formulas that is unique to you to achieve optimal results for your situation. I prescribe high-quality, professional-grade herbal medicines that are available only to qualified licensed professional.

Herbal medicines and supplements are not included in the cost of treatment and are billed separately.

Gua Sha

Gua Sha

Although Gua Sha is an ancient healing technique used by Chinese Medicine practitioners for thousands of years, it is relatively unknown in the West. It is recognized throughout Asia as a highly effective treatment for chronic pain conditions, stress, fatigue, and a host of other ailments.

First, oil is applied to a specific meridian (energy pathway) on your body. I then use a smooth round-edged object (such as a spoon) to apply short brisk strokes to that area. This creates red patches of skin (called "Sha"); detoxifying your blood and restoring the healthy flow if Qi (energy) to the area. There is no pain involved, and the Sha will fade in 2 to 3 days. But the sense of health and vitality you experience from it will last much longer.

Cupping

Cupping

Cupping has been a part of Chinese Medicine for over 2,500 years. It relieves aches and pains, improves circulation, and also helps with respiratory and digestive issues. I simply place a specialized "cup" onto specific points on your body, and then use suction to draw your skin up into the cups. It doesn't hurt — it simply draws fresh blood to that area of your body, which facilitates the cleansing and strengthening of your Qi (energy). The end result is a greater overall sense of health and well-being.

Tui Na Massage

Tui Na Massage

Tui Na massage, also known as Chinese medical massage, employs various techniques such as acupressure, movement, and stretching to bring the body into balance. It focuses on manually moving the qi along the meridians and makes an amazing adjunct to an acupuncture session. Tui Na is wonderful for reducing stress, improving sleep, speeding up recovery from injury, promoting relaxation and improving mood. When coming in for a Tui Na appointment, please be sure to wear or bring light, loose, comfortable clothing that fully covers your arms and legs.

Nutrition & Diet Counseling

Nutrition & Diet Counseling

Food is our daily medicine and as such, can play a huge role in your health. Yet, it is one of the most difficult habits for people to change. Acupuncture is amazing at resetting the body so that the habits can longer control you, leading to healthier choices.

I have studied the teachings of Anthony William, aka "the Medical Medium" and have experienced firsthand the benefits of the wisdom imparted by the Spirit of Compassion.

If you're wishing to improve your health through nutrition and diet, I can assist with providing guidance and support on your health journey in a safe and non-judgemental space.

HOW THIS JOURNEY BEGAN

"The wonderful thing about acupuncture is that it works regardless of whether you believe in it or not."

I used to be a huge skeptic. I hadn't even considered acupuncture as a healing modality until I was desperate for some kind of relief and had nothing to lose by giving it a go. My initial and subsequent experiences left me questioning the nature of the universe. Receiving acupuncture was a deep and relaxing reset unlike anything I had ever experienced. Definitely not something you would guess to be the case when you're lying on a table  with needles in you. And so after experiencing a profound healing, my interest in energy medicine began.

Inspired, I enrolled at the Acupressure Institute in Berkeley and began practicing hands-on healing therapies in 2005 before obtaining my acupuncture license in 2012. Because of my hands-on background, I like to incorporate cupping, gua sha, reflexology, tui na massage, and other modalities as needed during an acupuncture session.

Before acupuncture school, I received a BA in History from the University of California at Berkeley, attended the California College of Arts & Crafts, and the Berkeley Psychic Institute. I continue to experience improved health for myself and my family by following the information shared by Anthony Williams, aka the 'Medical Medium' and incorporate his teachings into my practice. In my spare time, I can be found with my husband and our four legged rescue, tending our garden where we grow the bulk of our food in addition to herbal medicines.
